Public Relations Manager
Reporting to: Head of Marketing
Job Purpose
To nurture a strong industry network, increase awareness and develop an enviable corporate image by developing and executing effective communication and media relations programs across different African Countries that we are operational in.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Media Coverage and Monitoring:
- Develop engaging and unique public relations and media initiatives
- Maintain positive ties with media outlets
- Monitor media and audience sentiment on a regular basis
- Submit PR reports on a regular basis
- Handle inquiries from the public, press, and relevant organizations
- Create, edit and proofread all media content and press releases, as well as byline articles and keynote presentations
- Monitor, analyze and discuss quarterly PR results
- Have existing connections/relationships with media groups in several African countries
Partnerships:
- Evaluate opportunities for partnerships with merchants, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis
- Build relationships with thought leaders to grow industry awareness
- Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
Brand Awareness:
- Coordinate all public relations activities
- Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media
- Help clarify the company’s point of view to it’s main audience through media press releases and interviews
- Manage Regional PR agencies in Africa to get full maximum brand visibility
- Monitor social, economic and political trends that might affect their organization
- Recommend ways to enhance the firm's image on the basis
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or Marketing with a PR or Advertising concentration
- Minimum 5+ years of Experience with a
- A confident communicator and presenter
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
- Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
- The ability to keep information confidential
- Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms
- Ability to work in high-stress environments.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude
- Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management
