Our client a multinational supply chain solutions company in shipping and freight business is seeking to fill the role of a Transport Manager.

Roles & Responsilitites:

Fleet Management

• Fleet maintenance:
• Coordinate the rescue of breakdown/accident vehicles and facilitate repairs in the field.
• Monitor and control fleet running costs
• Ensure clean, well-serviced, and neat fleet at all times
• Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and cross boarder requirements as necessitated by various government agencies in East Africa and ISO requirements

People Management:

• Conduct training for staff in the department
• Supervise and discipline staff in the section
• Ensure procedures for reporting and logging vehicle movement through the control room are followed.
• Provide counseling for drivers during meetings.
• Implement and enforce control measures to safeguard against theft
• Deploy staff in the transport section

Operations Management:

• Strategically plan and manage logistics, imports, exports and customs clearance operations.
• Fleet tracking and reporting
• Participate in the new vehicle requisition in line with the management
• Develop a Vehicle replacement policy and monitor its adherence. Recommend vehicles for disposal with justifications.
• Ensure the quality of parts and workmanship at dealer/company workshops.

Other duties but not limited to:

• Evaluate budgets and expenditures.
• Keep track of quality, quantity, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
• Resolve any arising complaints related to import or export operations.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Degree/Diploma in supply chain management or related field
2. 8+ years of experience in a similar role in the freight industry
3. Must have managed a fleet of 300 - 500 vehicles 
4. Willing and able to work and live in North Congo
