TECHNICIAN - HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE.
Reports to: Superintendent
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for operating and maintaining the machine issued.
- Driving to the job site.
- Inspecting heavy machinery, e.g. trucks, cranes, bulldozers, and other equipment for proper performance.
- Operating heavy machinery to undertake specific activities like earth moving, land preparation, excavation and construction works to the specified standards and specifications.
- Adjusting equipment and implements and replacing faulty parts.
- Assisting in the diagnosis of faults by reading and understanding error codes on the machines.
- Repairing damaged equipment parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Cleaning and servicing of machine attachments like winches, blades, and side booms.
- Assisting in performing major repair works when necessary.
- Consulting with other mechanics on smaller jobs.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma and license to operate, or diploma in auto- motive engineering, auto -mechanical engineering
- Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic.
- National license to operate the type of machine being used.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCES:
- Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic and operator.
- Understanding of computer troubleshooting/ testing technologies.
- Demonstrable competency and ability to operate heavy machinery.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and construction equipment.
- Ability to work after-hours if required.
- Good communication skills.
