Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Senior Accountant Consultant to provide high-level accounting and financial management support. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening accounting processes and controls, and providing practical financial insights to support business decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accounting professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide hands-on financial expertise in a consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and management accounts.
• Review general ledger accounts, reconciliations, journals, accruals, provisions, and financial transactions.
• Ensure timely and accurate bank, supplier, customer, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial analysis.
• Review accounting records and identify discrepancies, control weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Kenyan accounting, tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
• Support preparation for internal and external audits and coordinate the provision of audit documentation.
• Review and strengthen financial controls, accounting procedures, and reporting processes.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to management and clients where required.
• Support implementation, improvement, or review of accounting systems and financial processes.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior accounting staff.
• Undertake financial and accounting assignments for clients and provide practical recommendations.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and schedules as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is required.
• 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with exposure to consulting or professional services.
• Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting, Taxation,  Accounting Principles, and Internal Controls.
• Practical understanding of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance requirements.
• Experience in preparing management accounts and financial statements.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments or clients.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and report-writing skills.
